You know you’ve felt that moment before, where you just felt completely caught in anxiousness. It wasn’t the best feeling, and you weren’t quite sure what the good in it was. It was a moment where you felt uncomfortable, you felt fear, maybe doubt even. You were trying to figure out what the heck was happening inside you, while panic just started growing. So what happened? Why did you feel that anxiety that completely overtook the moment you were in at that point in time?
It is very interesting how anxiety can be spotted physically in someone’s body. You see, anxiety isn’t always just an emotional thing. Sometimes it manifests physically and is being seen through a higher blood pressure, dizziness, some people start sweating unexplainably, and sometime just start trembling. Some people with anxiety feel emotions of tensions, and have a lot of thoughts of worry going through their mind during the time of anxiety.
When Anxiousness is Recognized as Fear
When anticipation is connected in a negative way, anxiety comes up. A lot of time we get anxious, and experience anxiousness because we get intimidated and scared of the future. We get afraid of losing control (which we never had in the first place…) of what’s ahead of us. But sometimes, anxiousness brings good to the table also.
Anxiety can be a normal response, or reaction to a stressful situation we face. Sometimes anxiety is an alert for us to give us a heads up of a dangerous situation we are entering in. It let’s us know to be careful, and pay close attention to what’s happening around us. So when it’s just a temporary emotion you get to feel, it’s actually not a bad thing at all. But when the anxiousness becomes a daily emotion you constantly feel, then it becomes a not so good thing. As a matter of fact, it starts to have a negative effect on you.
Once you start feeling anxiety on a regular basis, you’ll start noticing excessive amounts of fear and insecurities. You’ll start noticing how you worry regularly and persistently about things that are completely out of your control, and about regular daily situations. And when not careful, you are giving anxiety full power to take over your daily living, while it completely consumes you. It wears you out. And you’ll feel worn out and tired, because your brain is going 500 miles an hour with thoughts of fear.
The Sources of Anxiousness
You see, there are so many different sources where the anxiety within you could come from. Sometimes it’s your surroundings. Perhaps things at your job, or people you are surrounded with. Sometimes it can be triggered by past trauma. And sometimes it can even be medical, and could’ve been passed on genetically. Either way, the only way to work on it, and overcome it is by facing it, and get to the roots of things.
When you allow anxiety to go on for too long within you, it wears you out physically and emotionally. People with anxiety started feeling unbearable headaches. There were people that felt nauseous and stomach pain from it. The hearts started racing, and shortness of breath would kick in, and it started becoming a dangerous thing.
Facing Anxiety and Starting to Deal with it
So with that said, let’s start looking into ways to deal with anxiety for our good, and our health benefits, shall we? Before being able to deal with anxiety, we have to recognize the moments when we get caught in anxiousness… Meaning, recognize the symptoms when they first come up in the moment.
What are some symptoms you deal with? Are there moments throughout your day where you randomly feel your heart rate increasing? Maybe you feel pretty tired or weak, and you’ve just gotten up a couple of hours ago? Do you feel nervous a lot, and can’t explain why? You look around you, and everything is more than okay in your surroundings… You really struggle with controlling worries that constantly keep coming up. And most of all, you run from facing anxiety, and avoid the things that trigger it. These are just a couple of symptom examples when it comes to anxiety, but that gives you a little bit of an idea.
Next time you’re seeing or feeling another symptom coming up, be honest with yourself about it. Recognize it, and start coping with it. Start with something simple like counting to ten slowly. Get yourself back into the present. Another thing you can do is take deep breaths. Inhale and exhale in the moment. That’s another way to get yourself back into the present.
Another way to cope with anxiety is by allowing yourself to take a short time out. Learn a relaxation technique that works for you. Go outside, and take a walk. Talk with God about your day. Listen to music you like that gets you dancing perhaps. Clear your head and step back from the problem in the moment.
Other Great Daily Resources we weren’t Even Aware of…
Slow down on alcohol, and too much caffeine (or boosting energy drinks even…). Believe it or not, they can get you all jittery when taken too much of it, and can actually trigger anxiety and panic. And increase a healthy, well-balanced meal instead. Get the needed energy through natural resources instead 😊. Trust me, your body will thank you.
Try to exercise daily if possible, or at least every other day. I’m telling you, it works miracles. And it doesn’t even have to be anything huge like lifting 100 lbs and run 6 miles, no. It can be something basic like taking a speed walk through your neighborhood for 15 minutes one day, and then do a short 5 lbs weight lift session the following day. That will also help you get a good night sleep, which will help anxiety more than you can imagine.
Perfection is Not Possible
We have the tendency of getting caught up in anxiety by trying to be perfect. I said it before, I will say it again… we won’t ever be perfect, so we need to stop trying, because that puts us in anxiousness as well. Be proud of the things you get done, even if you won’t get them done all the way. Celebrate what you have done and accomplished so far.
Accept the fact that there are very many things that are completely out of your control. And be okay with it. We are living in a busy world, and a busy world comes with anxiety. It is okay to deal with anxiety.
Let me finish with saying this… Take time this week to listen to your body. When you start feeling getting caught in anxiousness, face it and deal with it, with no longer running from it. When you feel it pulling you down, get in touch with a friend of yours, someone you can laugh with. Laugh! Let those endorphins your body needs be released 😊. Gosh, I could go on and on and on about this… but I am going to leave it with that for now 😊. I hope you’ll have a really good coming week, and for things to start switching for the good, and positive as you go. Take really good care of yourself, and recognize what your body is telling you.
